Cross Contamination Issues
If there is someone in your
house that is able to
consume wheat, be careful
you do not allow
cross-contamination.
For instance, do not use a
toaster that has been used
for bread containing gluten.
Clean all countertops and
utensils that have come in
contact with gluten.
And always use separate jars
for items such as peanut
butter and jelly, as wheat
crumbs may contaminate the
product.

|
| Gluten is a protein found in wheat,
barley and rye.
It serves as a
leavening ingredient and actually helps to bind the
flour together. Wheat
allergies are rare, yet there are many who cannot
consume gluten. For instance, those who suffer
from Celiac Disease must live gluten-free.
