Did you know that feeding your baby soy formula in the first six months of life may increase your child's chances of developing a soy allergy?  If you have any food allergies, try to breast feed your baby for at least the first six months of life.  Avoid eating soy and peanut products during this time.

Pizza may be the last place you expect soy - but think again!  Some restaurants use soy cheese on their pizzas. Always ask the cook if the cheese contains soy, explaining you have a serious allergy to it. And while you are at it, remember that the pepperoni might contain soy.

What else might contain soy?  Machine oil, printer's ink, flour and grits.  If you have a soy allergy, do not take vitamin E.

Beware of food products with seasonings, shortenings, stabilizers or thickeners listed as an ingredient.  Vegetable gum, starch, oil or proteins may include soy.  Powdered meat replacers and deli meats can have soy too.

Many sauces and margarines contain soy.  Surprisingly, the cream centers of chocolate candies may as well.  Avoid protein bars if you are allergic to soy.  Some hygiene products and cosmetics have soy added to them.
